Open Letter to Parents

Toros Counseling Department

Dear Parents/ Guardians:

The school counseling program at Dr. Leo G. Cigarroa High School is geared toward meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students. Our program focuses on helping students achieve academic and personal success through a variety of guidance activities/presentations. In an attempt to meet these needs, the counseling program offers a variety of services for you and your child.  Services include classroom guidance presentations which address topics such as self-esteem, social skills, problem-solving skills, career awareness, etc. Individual counseling is available for students who have specific needs.  Counseling referrals may be received from students, teachers, parents / guardians, or peers. Another service that is offered through the counseling department is small group counseling that brings together students who share similar concerns.   Small groups offer students the opportunity to share experiences with others, have support, and learn from students who are dealing with similar issues.  The school counselors are available for consultation or individual appointments to discuss your child’s needs or concerns. Additionally, several parent meetings will be offered throughout the school year to discuss information that impacts your child. We look forward to working with you and your child during the 2018-2019 school year!
