Attention Superintendent's Advisory Council:
The SAC meeting will take place at CHS on Wednesday, February 10th.  CHS welcomes all members from LISD High Schools and Dr. Marus Nelson, LISD Superintendent.  All members are expected to wear the SAC shirt and khaki pants.  If you have any questions, please visit with Mr. Gus Perez or Mr. John Eric Salinas.

There are two camps-Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP) and McCombs Future Executive Academy (MFEA). CHS WELCOMES THE SUPERINTENDENT'S ADVISORY COUNCIL!

Welcome to Dr. Leo G. Cigarroa High School!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Dr. Nelson and the Laredo ISD Superintendent's Advisory Council.  Cigarroa HS will host the SAC on Wednesday, February 10th.  Along with our very own members, the students from Ms. Meva Seanz's Food Production course will cater the luncheon.  I extend my appreciation to all our students for your commitment in having pride at CHS!

I would like to announce that Ms. Cassandra Mendoza has accepted the position of Project Coordinator for the High Schools That Work grant.  Some seniors were selected to partake in a HSTW assessment, whereas our staff will be completing a climate survey.  It is with these reports that our CEIC will be able to address our focus teams in developing plans for the upcoming 2010-2011 academic school year.  I appreciate the assistance and leadership Mr. Omar Gonzalez and Ms. Mendoza have provided to ensure that the project continues its course.

I am proud to be a part of a dynamic team of educators and students.  Our students continue to represent our campus, district, and community at various conferences, competitions, and presentations throughout the state.  Kudos to our sponsors for their dedication and commitment to extra-curricular activities.

I want to remind everyone that the TELPAS exam is underway and the TAKS tests are right around the corner.  Tutorial sessions are available throughout the week for ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies exams.  Additionally, CHS will host Super Saturday sessions to provide intense instruction and preparation.  I request the cooperation from our parents to encourage their child's attendance at school and for all intervention sessions.

In closing, I want to send a strong message to our students regarding their commitment to academic excellence. 
We have a tradition of pride at CHS, and I, along with our staff, stand ready to provide each of you with the utmost attention and immediate intervention to ensure of your success.  I ask that you make every effort to attend to your classes, tutorials, and Super Saturdays so that you may enhance the mastery of objectives in all content areas.  Together, I am confident that we will make a difference at CHS.
