Principal's Message
Go Toros!
Dear Mighty Toro Families, Students, Staff, and Community: As we navigate through the second nine weeks of the 2026–2027 school year, I want to express my continued gratitude for your dedication, hard work, and school spirit. Our students and staff have set a strong foundation this fall, and this second nine weeks is a vital period in our academic calendar as we prepare for upcoming STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams and end-of-semester assessments. Our faculty is dedicated to providing the instruction and support our students need to excel, and I encourage all our Toros to stay focused, maintain strong daily attendance, and take advantage of tutoring opportunities. As we work toward academic excellence, please keep these key calendar dates in mind: Thanksgiving Break will offer a well-deserved time to rest right before our testing window begins; Friday, December 18, 2026, will mark the last day of the second nine weeks and fall semester; Winter Break will run from Monday, December 21, 2026, through Friday, January 8, 2027; and students will return to campus on Monday, January 11, 2027. Thank you for your ongoing partnership, trust, and commitment to our school community. Together, we will continue Breaking Barriers and creating opportunities for every student to thrive—We are the Mighty Toros, "The Pride of South Laredo!" Go Toros! — With Toro Pride, Dr. Rocio Lopez, Principal, Dr. Leonides G. Cigarroa High School
