The Laredo Independent School District kicked off its 2025 student voter registration drive today at Cigarroa High School, where juniors and seniors who met eligibility requirements were invited to register to vote.

The drive was hosted by Get Out the Vote (GOTV) volunteers, who guided students through the process and emphasized the importance of civic responsibility. Their involvement ensures that students are not only aware of the voter registration process but also understand the value of their participation in democracy.

While not all seniors are currently eligible to register, LISD remains committed to providing the opportunity for all eligible students to take this important first step toward civic engagement.

The Volunteer Retired Educator group will continue supporting LISD’s efforts across all high schools, with their next scheduled visit set for Martin High School on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 9:45 a.m.

“We want our students to understand that their voice matters,” said Interim Superintendent Guillermo Pro. “By registering to vote, they are preparing to take part in decisions that shape their future and their community.”

The voter registration drives are part of LISD’s ongoing commitment to student growth and leadership, ensuring that young people are prepared to make a difference both in and out of the classroom.
