Members of the LISD Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council from Martin, Nixon, Cigarroa and Garcia Early College, along with LISD Superintendent Guillermo Prom and LISD Cabinet members attended the Mayor’s State of the City presentation at the Sames Auto Arena. Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino personally invited these students because he wanted our community’s future leaders to be in the audience.

Stephanie Turner of Martin High School, Adriana Valdez of Cigarroa High School, and Adriana Hernandez of Nixon High School were named LISD’s JROTC Honorable Cadets during a ceremony at the Martin High School Library.

Our CHS VITA student volunteers proudly attended the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) Awareness Proclamation Day hosted by Mayor Trevino on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
The proclamation highlights the collaborative efforts of community partners to promote financial stability and ensure access to free, reliable tax assistance for working families.
Through the VITA program, free tax preparation services are being provided to our community.

The Laredo Independent School District is hosting its sixth annual Scholars Golf Tournament on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Casa Blanca Golf Course.


Funds raised from the Golf Tournament will benefit scholarships for deserving graduating seniors from the Hector J. Garcia Early College High School, Raymond and Tirza Martin High School, J.W. Nixon High School, and Dr. Leonides Cigarroa High School

✨ Parental Engagement in Action! ✨ As part of our Parental Engagement Program, parents are invited once a month to participate in a Life Skills Course at the LISD Performing Arts Complex, where they explore fun and creative Arts & Crafts projects. This morning, our Cigarroa High School parents were joined by special guests as they learned how to create a beautiful “Bobo Rose Balloon” 🌹🎈 (Rosa en Globo Burbuja).
